I've been doing CrossFit for a little over a year now. I did it mainly to lose weight but I fell in love with it. Working out is no longer a chore, but it's still hard for me to lose weight. Why is that you say? Because I thought that working out would be enough for me to lose weight even without changing my diet. No, that didn't work for me.. it doesn't work for anyone.
Nutrition is not a one size fits all. It took me a FULL year to be able to figure out what works for me and to begin to lose weight. I can't tell you how or what to eat, because I have no idea what will work for you. Everyone is different. Whether you're trying to lose weight, get some gains, or just maintain, remember to focus on your nutrition!
What worked for me: I started counting my macros and went on keto. This was really hard for me as carbs is life, but I did start to lose weight. However, I was pretty hungry ALL the time since I trained about 3-4 times a week. So I changed my "diet" and just resulted to absolutely no carbs at night. I still count my macros as I'm trying to still lose more weight. I've also tried to cut out processed or added sugar from my diet and that's helped a lot too! It's hard because EVERYTHING contains sugar. No, seriously. Dextrose, sucrose, and maltose are some other names for sugar but there's more!!
I am not a nutritionist, doctor, or dietitian, so I can't recommend any diets to you specifically. (If you start any diets, please consult with your doctor first!!) What I can recommend is writing down what you eat daily so that you can be more MINDFUL of what you eat. You'll figure out how many cookies you eat, how much fried food you eat, when you're not eating vegetables, and more! (You can also use apps like MyFitness Pal to input what you eat daily). This just allows you to figure out what's working, what's not working, and what you need to do in order to have better nutrition!
Remember, it's not a DIET, it's a LIFESTYLE!
